Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is planning to rebuild the 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line that will connect the Bosserman Substation to the New Buffalo Substation. The improvements in Delaware and Madison counties are essential to ensure continued reliable electricity is available for local customers. The existing transmission infrastructure has reached an age where it needs to be replaced to improve reliability for area customers.

Rebuilding approximately 7 miles of transmission line decreases potential outages and speeds recovery of service when outages occur.

Project Updates

Summer 2018: Indiana Michigan Power announces the final line route for the project. While the majority of the line will be rebuilt where it is currently located, a re-route will occur on a portion of the existing line near the city of New Buffalo. The announcement follows a comprehensive siting study, public and key stakeholder input, and a public open house in December 2017.
