Data layers such as parcel boundaries are obtained from third-party sources and may vary from the actual boundaries. Digitization and the approximate right-of-way is based on interpretation of these features and aerial photography. The represented centerline and approximate right-of-way is subject to modification based on ground surveys and detailed engineering design.
Entergy is planning to construct a new single-circuit 500-kV transmission line approximately 150 miles in length in Iberville, Point Coupee, St Landry, Evangeline, Avoyelles, Rapides and Vernon parishes. The new transmission line will connect the upgraded Webre 500-kV Switching Station (La) to the 500 kV switching station to be constructed in Texas (Tx). The project provides opportunity to grow Louisiana through industrial and residential investments in the region while ensuring the transmission infrastructure to support Louisiana growth. The new transmission line will provide neighboring Operating companies (CLECO) in each parish with power availability for future industrial and residential growth.
Entergy operates within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), a regional transmission organization that manages the flow of power across its footprint. MISO has identified this project as subject to federal reliability standards. The project will increase operational flexibility, help meet the growing power demands of Louisiana and Texas and increase reliability and resiliency during extreme events.
The Babel – Webre 500kV line project (“Babel – Webre”) is a MISO MTEP25 Target Appendix A project proposed by Entergy to address projected widespread Transmission reliability constraints associated with expected load growth in Louisiana and expected generation interconnection in Texas and Louisiana.
Entergy Louisiana will file an application with the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) (separately) the Public Utilities Commission Texas (PUCT) to amend its Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN).
If you have questions about the transmission line, you may contact the project team via Voice Mail at (504) 576-2134 or by email at BabelWebre@entergy.com.
